Blog Post

Instant Google Love

If you aren’t yet convinced of the power of blogging, have a look at the following screenshot:

Google found our new post right away!

Google loves blogs, and WordPress blogs in particular are set up to ping the major search engines once you’ve published new content. Check out the time stamp on this recent blog post. Google picked it up within a few short hours.

Not bad, especially considering that non-blog sites can take several weeks for new content to appear on SERPs (that’s Search Engine Results Pages, to the layman).

Regarding our earlier post about scheduling your content in advance, not to worry: Google won’t index your posts until they’re officially published. As long as you keep them in draft status, you can tweak your wording as much as you like with no negative effects, and no one will accidentally find your post before you’re ready.

If your site is fairly new and you don’t see fast results like this, don’t fret. Your site has to build some traction first before Google will be so keen to index you. In our case, for example, we didn’t see this kind of result until about six months in, after diligently posting every single week. It’s also rumored that the magic threshold is 50 posts, after which point you’re considered a serious blog.

And the moral is, keep posting! Before you know it you’ll be showing up immediately in SERPs.

If you’re stuck on trying to fill up your blog, we’ll look more at that next week.
